Gallery Wrapped or Floating Frame: How to Choose

Moody landscape canvas in a floating frame above a console

Every Willow & Loam piece is made to order in one of two presentations: gallery wrapped, or set inside a floating frame. Both arrive ready to hang. The difference is in the finish, and in the feeling it brings to the room.

Gallery wrapped canvas

The canvas is printed on an archival-quality surface and wrapped around an internal wooden stretcher frame, leaving a clean, finished edge with no outer frame. It is simple, contemporary and lets the artwork speak for itself.

Choose gallery wrapped when you want a relaxed, modern look, when you are hanging several pieces together, or when the room already has plenty of wood and metal finishes.

Floating frame

The canvas sits inside a slim outer frame with a subtle reveal gap, so the artwork appears to float. It adds definition and a finished, gallery-inspired polish that makes even a quiet landscape feel like a statement.

Choosing a finish

  • Black is crisp and graphic. It sharpens abstracts like Golden Ratio and suits modern rooms.
  • Espresso is a deep brown wood that adds warmth and contrast to moody pieces such as The Homestead.
  • Oak is light and natural, made for Japandi, Scandinavian and organic modern spaces and pieces like Brushstroke.
  • Gold brings a warm, classic polish to vintage-style landscapes like Golden Hour.
  • Silver is softly metallic and refined, lovely with cooler palettes and coastal scenes.

A simple rule of thumb

Match the frame to the other finishes in the room, not to the artwork. If your furniture leans warm wood, try Oak or Espresso. If you have brass lamps or hardware, Gold will tie it together. If you are unsure, gallery wrapped is never wrong.
